“Murphysboro 1926” and “Murphysboro 1938” are on the playbill during the Murphysboro Apple Festival at the Historic Liberty Theater, which was named to the National Register of Historic Sites in June.
“Murphysboro 1926” shows such scenes as group student pictures, and worshipers leaving Sunday services, the old street car tracks and storefronts. “Murphysboro 1938” is a montage of mostly amateur films which were found in bits and pieces, restored and polished where possible.
The films will be shown twice daily, at 10:00 am and 2 pm on Thursday, September 13, and Friday, September 14.
Admission is by donation, with all proceeds to benefit the on-going restoration projects at the Historic Liberty Theater. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
