Location: Artist-in-Residence Studio, 621 Madison Street, Paducah, KY
The Paducah Artist-in-Residence Program is a collaborative effort between the Paducah Arts Alliance and the Yeiser Art Center, working together to promote the growth of artists and of the arts community as well as providing artists with a community arts space in which to collaborate, educate, and create. Our current Artist-in-Residence is Jennifer Moss, a fiber artist and sculpture whose work ranges from wearable art to room size installations. Jennifer won the "Best of Show Award" in the 2011 Fantastic Fibers Exhibition at the Yeiser Art Center.Return to event list.
You can join Jennifer for a two-day natural dye workshop and demonstration this weekend. Several different dye baths will be prepared so that participants can explore colors and results. Registered participants can bring up to 1/4 pound of animal fibers (wool, silk, alpaca, etc.) in the form of yarn, fabric, or roving. Fiber may be natural or bleached, but participants may experiment with over-dyeing as well. The Yeiser asks that you please not bring plant-based or synthetic fibers.
The first workshop, Preparing Fibers and Cooking Dye, will be this Saturday from 1 pm to 4 pm. The second workshop, Dyeing Fibers Naturally, will be Sunday, June 17th, from 1 pm to 3 pm. Participation is limited to eight people, and registration is required. To register or for more information, contact the Yeiser Art Center.
